Swanton is a village in north western Ohio that lies between Lucas and Fulton Counties and golfing enthusiasts who may be staying in the area will find a selection of high caliber courses and golf clubs in both, just a short drive away. The 18 hole championship course – spread over 6,636 yards for more challenging tees and 5,300 yards for more affable tees – is set amid one of the most picturesque locations in the state and is ideal for both amateur and more skilled levels of golfers. The club also provides chipping and putting areas for those who need a practice place to improve their short game as well as a pro-golf shop, clubhouse, swimming pool and fitness center as well as a driving range and PGA staff who are available to give lessons if required. The city of Toledo is just 11 miles from Swanton and has several golf courses in close proximity that are operated by the Master Golf Management Group. These consist of 3 city golf courses which are Collins Park Golf Course on Reineck Drive which offers a 9 hole course that is both fun and challenging plus Detwiler Park and Ottawa Park. The former is a resort style facility situated on the southern edge of Point Place along the shores of Maumee Bay and the course – designed by Arthur Hills and managed by PGA Professional, Cody Morse – offers has vast fairways lined with ancient trees and pristine greens with gentle slopes in a tranquil setting. It’s annual competitive Golf-toberfest is held in October each year and this year’s event will be on Saturday, October 12th with Tee Times starting at 9am or 12.30pm for teams of four people. Also in the Toledo area you will find one of the oldest golf courses in the country, the Ottawa Park Golf Course, which is a beautiful 18-hole public golf course that is suitable for all from beginners right through to championship levels. The course is over a century old and is set in tranquil surroundings amid some beautiful natural scenery, not far from the University of Toledo. It was designed by S.P. Jermain and established in 1899 and like most courses, rates of play will vary depending on the day and time that you wish to play.
