If you are visiting the village of Swanton in north-western Ohio and want to take advantage of the surrounding countryside then you may prefer to stay on one of the great camp sites in the area rather than opting for more formal hotel accommodation. This is the perfect option for those travelling with family and pets as it offers a great deal of freedom in comparison to more restrictive and formal hotel accommodation.

campingThe Bluegrass Campground is situated on Waterville Swanton Road and numerous sites that offer a great many amenities that are ideal to keep the whole family happy and entertained. These include all the necessary conveniences such as restrooms and shower facilities, BBQ & Picnic areas, coin-op laundry services and a campground store with propane refills available to purchase for all your cooking needs and firewood to get the campfire going. Younger guests will find children’s’ playgrounds, an outdoor swimming pool and weekend festivities like the Saturday Hay Rides for them to enjoy. There is also a pond on-site where guests can also enjoy fishing and swimming. For those who prefer interior accommodation, this park also has Model Cabins available for rent which sleep up to 4 people and include a full size master bed, living room, dinette, walk in shower, all appliances including direct TV and a wooden external deck. Weekend rates begin at $140 for 2 nights, without linen supplied and $165 with linens.

Not much further from the village of Swanton you will also find the Twin Acres Campground on Waterville Swanton Road in nearby Whitehouse which has been owned and operated by the Jacobs family since 1996 and is in a very scenic and tranquil location. This 15 acre site provides full facilities and 200 campsites for both tents and RVs – each has a fire ring and a picnic table – while pets are welcome also although it is requested that they should be leashed and not left to roam around unaccompanied, with owners taking responsibility for them. There is a small store on site where basic camping supplies can be purchased and a further 3 grocery stores and carry out service with delivery available direct to your camp site on request. The showers and restroom facilities are very clean and well maintained while there is also a dump site available too for waste. Recreational activities include a top of the range horseshoe pit, a volley ball court and a basketball court plus a pond for swimming and fishing. In addition, there some great hiking trails close by and bicycles are permitted too on and around the grounds for those who prefer cycling to walking. This park’s overnight camping facilities are available from 1st May to October 15th and rates with electric and water start around $25 per night or $150 per week, for a family of four (2 adults/2children) with $4 per night applicable each additional person. Other camping facilities in the area include Hidden Lake Campgrounds on Swanton’s South Fulton Lucas Road and the Big Campground on Swanton Berkley Southern Road.
